I feel guilty for considering DayBreak Adult Day Services, should I?

Our participating families find that their loved ones are happier, healthier, and enjoy life more because of DayBreak. Our program gives your loved one a chance to make new friends, try different activities and feel a renewed sense of purpose. Try our program for the day and see how they feel.

Do you enroll participants who require oxygen during the day?

Yes  we are able to accept individuals who require oxygen during the day.  We need information about the oxygen.

Who would not be permitted to participate in Adult Day services?

While we do provide individualized attention, someone requiring one on one attention throughout the entire day would not be appropriate, also those who are combative and/or a danger to him/herself or others, may also not be appropriate.

Do you administer medications?

Medication can be dispensed by the center nurses with an appropriate order from the participant’s medical doctor. Medications also must be in an original pharmacy container with the pharmacy label.  Participants are allowed to take medication on their own.

Do you provide transportation?

We do provide transportation to and from the program. This is primarily for those residing in Shelby County, but check with us about out of county options as we have some agreements with neighboring county transportation groups.

Do you have a list of services you provide?

Participants receive the services of a Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, and Licensed Social Worker.  In addition a Registered Dietician is available for consultation with our staff for individual client needs.  Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy services are available, a physician’s order is required for these services.  Breakfast, lunch, and snacks throughout the day, and the cost of transportation are included. Program activities are also included.

I am a veteran, and I was told at the V.A. that this would be covered.

In many cases, this is true, and we are happy to work with you and the V.A to make sure you receive any benefits you qualify for in regards to participation in the program.  Those approved by the V. A. for attendance may have the cost of attendance covered or pay a small daily copay.

Are meals provided, and is there an additional cost?

We serve a light breakfast (usually cereal and fruit with coffee, tea, or hot chocolate), a hot lunch, and snacks. There is no additional cost for meals.

How much does it cost?

We are glad to work with you to see if your insurance will cover the costs of attendance.  For those without insurance coverage, the cost of the program is $52.00 per day.  We do have funding through other programs/ sources and will utilize those sources if you qualify which may cover the all or part of the cost.

What kind of activites do you provide?

We have a range of activities and maintain a full activity calendar. Examples of activities include Music groups, Arts and Crafts, Bingo, Ladies/Co-Ed Tea Parties, Chair Exercises, Current Events, Trivia, Crossword Puzzles, Pet Therapy. All activities, are a choice. Activities are geared towards maintaining  cognitive as well as physical health.
